LOTTE Energy Materials (CEO Kim Yeon-seop) announced today that it has published the 2023 Sustainability Report, which includes activities and plans for responsible eco-friendly energy transition and development of next-generation advanced materials to further enhance its global competitiveness. The report can be found on the official website.

This Sustainability Report is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards 2021 and reflects disclosure indicators from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), which takes into account the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and industry-specific characteristics.

The report identifies key ESG issues and includes key performance and plans through a 'dual materiality assessment' that considers both the environmental and social impact of a company's business activities, as well as the impact of external environmental and social factors on its financial position.

Among them, the company has provided more in-depth descriptions of high-priority items such as strengthening partnerships to utilize renewable energy and expanding the use of renewable copper, efforts to strengthen safety, environmental health management and compliance, activities to reduce pollutant emissions, and energy and greenhouse gas management.

By ESG category, the Environment (E) category included eco-friendly management, climate risk management, resource virtuous cycle, water resource management, pollutant emission reduction and biodiversity implementation strategies. We are implementing energy and greenhouse gas reduction activities such as replacing aging equipment at our workplaces and utilizing renewable energy, and we are conducting and planning activities to achieve our carbon neutrality goal.

The Social (S) category includes the status of health, safety, human rights management, diversity equality inclusion, human resource management, partnerships with suppliers, social contribution efforts, product quality practices, and information protection. We have prepared safety and health activities for all employees to take the initiative to participate in, and we are actively collecting employee opinions through organizational culture diagnosis.

In the governance (G) category, we reflected compliance, fair trade culture internalization, ethical management, and board operation; through internal compliance management, we will reduce legal violation risks, prevent anti-corruption such as bribery and strengthen trust with customers and partnerships.

Based on the report, LOTTE Energy Materials plans to accelerate its sustainable management activities in 2024 by actively responding to climate change at all of its business sites, strengthening its business portfolio to enhance brand value, cooperating and supporting local communities, and building a human capital-based management strategy.

'We will become a sustainable company that practices eco-friendly values and contributes to human society through active communication with stakeholders based on ESG management that is higher than global requirements,' said an official from LOTTE Energy Materials.
